Heating your marquee to the right temperature is key – on the one hand you don’t want your guests to be sweating buckets and to feel like they are going to pass out from the heat, and on the other hand you do not want them to be so cold they have icicles on their toes! Much like Goldilocks you want the temperature to be ‘just right’.

Here are some tips and advice for heating your marquee:

Spread the wealth - Always use heaters with fans in them. If you are hiring them or buying them always choose the fan powered heaters so they can get the hot air around the marquee evenly. Don’t us halogen heaters, patio heaters, cabinet heaters, or table heaters as none of these have fans in them and so won’t heat the whole marquee.

Placing of the heaters – position the heaters so they ar near the seating area, and point them towards the doors and anywhere where the marquee will lose heat.

Seasons in the sun – in the colder seasons you’ll need the heaters on all the time whereas April, May and September, October you can just heat up the marquee at the beginning and then again at night to keep the temperature nice and warm. In December, January and February you’ll need twice as many heaters and to keep them on all night / day to keep it heated.

The ultimate heater of all heaters – the best heater for a marquee is an indirect heater. They are large units and are placed outside the marquee and use a thermostat to control the temperature of the marquee. They are powered either by gas or diesel and cost around £1500 to buy or £200 to rent.
